As with so many things, the 80’s emerged as the decade of success for Ibanez as more and more players embraced Japanese guitars as American instrument manufacturers faltered. Pat Metheny, George Benson and John Scofield fast became endorsees with Scofield being closely associated with the AS-200.

This particular example has had one owner from new, used extensively over the years but always cared for. There is some tarnishing but the finish is still in excellent condition.

Crafted to the highest standard, the AS-200 showcases a captivating flamed maple top, featuring ivory multi-bound ƒ holes and that add a touch of sophistication. Its flamed maple back and sides, coupled with a sturdy hard rock maple center block, contribute to its distinct tone and resonance.

The set-in mahogany neck offers a comfortable playing experience, while the ebony fingerboard, adorned with ivory binding and subtle pearl and abalone split block position markers, enhances the instrument's visual appeal.

Fitted with Ibanez Super 58 humbucking pickups, the AS-200 delivers a balanced sound with warmth and clarity. With individual volume and tone controls, players have the flexibility to sculpt their desired tones effortlessly. The Tri-sound switch for the neck pickup adds versatility, allowing for exploration of different sonic textures.

The AS-200 boasts refined details, including ivory pickup rings, a Tune-o-matic style ST bridge, and a Quik Change tailpiece and the tortoise shell pickguard adds a vintage-inspired touch.

Designed for ease of use, the AS-200 features Sure Grip knobs for smooth adjustments and VelveTune tuning machines with gold buttons, ensuring reliable tuning stability.

An undoubted modern classic, perfect for anyone in search of something different.
