1975 Fender Telecaster B-Bender, Blonde
A beautifully clean and great-playing example of a mid-70s Tele with a Parsons-White String Bender—the original and most revered B-Bender system that opened up a new world of pedal steel–style expression for country and rock players alike. Made popular today by the likes of Blackberry Smoke's Charlie Starr and Brad Paisley these wonderfully engineered mechanisms are a huge amount of fun!
Developed in the late 1960s by Gene Parsons (drummer and multi-instrumentalist for The Byrds) and Clarence White, one of the most innovative Tele players of his generation, the "Parsons-White String Bender" was a mechanical device installed into the body of a Telecaster, allowing the player to bend the B string up a full tone simply by pulling down on the guitar’s strap. The result? A fluid, pedal steel–like voice that turned the solid-body Tele into something entirely new. White’s pioneering use of the system became legendary—seamlessly blending country bends and rock phrasing in a way that pushed the boundaries of what an electric guitar could do.
This 1975 Telecaster is one such example, with a Parsons-White B-Bender (serial no. 0116) professionally installed and working flawlessly. The mechanism is smooth, responsive and robust, offering the expressive control these are known for, and the routing is clean with no surprises.
Cosmetically it’s in very clean condition with a blonde finish over ash that shows minimal wear and no signs of abuse besides one ding to the top. The neck is a standout—nice and chunky, filling the hand without being unwieldy. It’s an incredibly solid-feeling guitar with great sustain and a lively acoustic resonance.
The tuners have been changed in the past, though the though the additional holes have been tidied up nicely. Electronics and pickups remain original and deliver that classic Tele twang, with the added versatility of the B-Bender opening up new creative options!
Whether you’re into country rock, Bakersfield twang, or just want a Tele with a bit more personality, this one’s got it in spades. B-Benders—especially genuine Parsons-White units—are increasingly hard to come by, and to find one in a clean mid-’70s Tele like this is rarer still.
A cool, expressive and very playable vintage Fender with a direct link to one of the most influential innovations in country-rock guitar history.
