Ignore the shipping price - this amp is for collection only..!!!
The 1971 Jennings JV-40 Amplifier is a vintage British tube amplifier from the early '70s, reflecting the distinct sound and aesthetic of that era. Produced by Jennings Musical Industries (JMI), the company founded by Tom Jennings (also associated with Vox), the JV-40 was part of a line of amplifiers made by Tom after his breakaway from VOX.
Basically, very similar to a vale rectified AC-30, the JV-40 features a 40-watt output, powered by EL-84 vacuum tubes, which give it a warm, organic tone with smooth overdrive characteristics. This model is known for its two channels, typically labeled for normal and bright voicing, allowing users to switch between a clean, full-bodied tone and a more aggressive, treble-boosted sound. Each channel has its own set of controls, providing versatility in shaping the amp's tonal output.
Cosmetically, the amplifier often has a black tolex covering with a diamond-patterned grill cloth, giving it a classic look. The control panel is likely adorned with chrome or brushed metal knobs, and it may feature JMI’s logo in a prominent position. Its construction is durable, with a well-built wooden cabinet that houses 2 x 12" Silver Bulldog speakers.
This one is in good condition and is working fine. It has a vib/trem jack on the back and sounds like a slightly higher powered classic AC-30!
