*ARCHIVED* 1968 Fender Telecaster Candy Apple Red + OHSC
Custom colour red Telecaster, what more do you need?
The finish is exquisite and will stand out in any collection. It's certainly seen a bit of life and unbelievably it is 100% original. The little amounts of wear you can see exposes the intriguing layers of Candy Apple red with the silver undercoat. Aside from these patches of wear the finish is in nice condition and it oozes character all over. The signature on the back is that of Albert Lee's.
The rosewood fingerboard has been refretted with correct frets wire and is in great condition. The back of the neck has comfortably worn and there's very little in the way of knocks. Neck date is March 1968.
The electronics are all correct with no sign of any modification. Both pickups look to have the correct windings. Pot dates look to be 1966 but its hard to see clearly.
The guitar comes with a correct Fender black tolex case which is in similar good condition to the guitar.
Sonically, this guitar has a superbly ‘spanky’ quality with plenty of bite from the bridge pickup as you’d expect. The 250k pots help round the sound a little, a feature that is much appreciated when compared to telecasters from later on. The neck pickup is a perfect foil bringing a warmth to proceedings. The rosewood neck is comfortable to play and the finish has been sufficiently worn to provide a compliant playing surface.
Custom colour Fenders are always a welcome sight here at ATB Guitars and this 1967 Telecaster with its cool custom colour is a stunning example with a great tone to match...
