Elegant and super rare, this 1966 Fender Electric XII in Shoreline Gold sounds as angelic as she looks and the opening line of ‘Stairway’ could have been written just for this stunning guitar…

We have seen a sold a few Firemist Gold E12's before but this is the very first Shoreline Gold one we have   had here and only the second one I have ever seen..!

This guitar has a wonderful patina and only a few minor knocks on the front. The finish still has a wonderful lustre both front and back that has escaped any real damage although it does look like it has been carefully polished and cared for over the years.

The neck is likewise glossy and has only worn a little. The fretboard looks great and there’s plenty of life left in the frets. In fact it is pretty difficult to wear the fingerboard out on these Electric XII’s although there is one small divot in the fingerboard on the C position of the second string. A previous owner must have liked the A minor chord which does, as you can imagine, sound fantastic on this instrument.

The iconic ‘hockey stick’ headstock has, like the body, stayed clear of any real damage and looks so good with the all original and unique to this finish, gold Fender logo.

The hardware is in great shape, no corrosion or discolouration, however it looks like the low E octave string saddle got lost and has been replaced with threaded saddle.

The pickguard and the other plastics have been well looked after though there is a crack on the upper part. Electronically everything is correct and all the solder joints look undisturbed.

The guitar comes with a period Black Tolex Fender hardshell case.

There is a good reason why this guitar was the go to studio 12 string when it was introduced. The feel of the neck and the action are just a joy and the instrument has such a vibrant tone when played acoustically. The tonal scope offered by the split coil pickups is always surprising, making the job of coaxing out a variety of lush sounds a dream.

Another rare shade in such fantastic condition, this Fender Electric XII is one of the best we have ever seen. To say this one is rare is an understatement and these guitars never stay with us for very long, which is a great shame as we love having them around, so if you’ve been hankering after one then now's your time!
