An excellent sounding Martin dreadnought from the early '60s. The D-28 is a Rosewood back/sides workhorse of a guitar favoured by many players and singer songwriters over the years. This one has been used a lot during its life which is testament to its wonderful tone, projection and playability.

Sound wise it's well balanced without the low end boom that can be associated with later, more heavily constructed models. Bass remains tight and warm, mids have a lot of clarity and the highs ring out nicely. The projection is very good, as is the sustain and it has the powerful voice this model is known for. There's a fair amount of headroom too so it would be at home in a band setting as it would as a solo accompanying instrument.

Tuners are later Grovers that provide very good tuning stability. There are holes visible from previously installed repro Waverley's as well as holes to the heel from previous strap buttons. There's a cleated crack around the lower side rim otherwise the instrument is original and in good overall condition. It's an excellent looking guitar with characterful wear around the tortoiseshell celluloid pickguard. The Spruce top has aged and darkened nicely and there's an attractive straight grain to the Rosewood.

A fantastic, inspiring instrument to play, a very comfortable neck profile, and overall an excellent example of Martin's famous Rosewood dreadnought. Complete with original hard shell case.
