Player grade, pre-CBS Jag refinished in a lightly aged and faded 3-tone Sunburst by Rich Rendall.

Billed as ‘faster and easier to play’ due to its shorter scale length, and equipped with some of the most advanced switching options of any Fender to date, the Jaguar cut quite a swath when introduced in the spring of 1962. Its sports car looks and catchy ad campaigns meant to appeal to the growing youth market showed Fender taking huge strides into the new decade with the Jaguar as its headlining instrument.

This one displays some subtle checking and nice fading to the colour. It's a great playing Jag with a really comfortable medium C neck profile, a recent refret with larger wire, a changed nut and a great setup. There's good height on the bridge ensuring the strings have a solid break angle giving the stability and resonance these Jags can sometimes lack.

The JUN 63 Maple/Rosewood neck features the desirable clay dot markers and overall it has a really nice smooth, playable feel. It's a guitar that's been played extensively over the years, the neck wear, knocks and dings testament to its use. There's a repair crack to the headstock by the low E tuner but nothing that compromises stability or structural integrity.

All hardware is present and correct with the original mute retained in the case. Tuners are the correct single line Klusons, the original Stackpole made pots both date to 36th week of '63, the original. bridge is in good overall shape and the saddles although rusted function well, with some replaced grub crews that mean individual saddles adjustments are no problem. The wiring is all nice and tidy and the pickups are the original staggered pole piece versions.

The celluloid pick guard has a nice marbled red/brown appearance and has only minimal shrinkage.

The range of tones are typically plentiful from this model, befitting of it's 'top of the line' status at the time. From thin twang to mellow warm jazzy tones, and the ability to switch between rhythm and lead circuits mean this model covers a lot of bases.

A nice player grade example at a good price, and one you won't want to put down!
