1962 Slab Fender Stratocaster Fiesta Red body refin + Selmer case
A slab board and originally fiesta Fender Strat from 1962 with a stunning body only refin by Mike Smith Guitars that looks as good as our all original...
A truly iconic finish, this body only refinish in its original colour, captures the subtlety of fiesta red really well and stacks up against the all original 1962 fiesta Strat we currently have. Aged appropriately, it looks fantastic and was an original fiesta red guitar back in '62.
The neck too, date stamped June 1962, is nicely worn. There is very little wear on the fretboard. It has been refretted and the board may have been lightly sanded. The back of the neck is well worn and comfortable. There hasn’t been any different tuners on this guitar, the marks are due to strings scratching around the bushing.
Plastics and pickguard are well preserved. These nitrate guards are particularly prone to cracking so it's always nice to find one that hasn’t. It has warped a little which is to be expected. The shield may be a reproduction as there are no markings on it.
The saddles are reproductions but elsewhere the hardware is correct.
Electrically everything is correct, we have been told the previous owner has spent a lot of money locating some of the vintage correct electrics.
The guitar comes with a period correct, Selmer hardshell case
Sonically we run the gamut from smooth neck to biting bridge that never gets too spikey or harsh. The pickups are well balanced accentuating the natural resonance of the guitar. The neck feels very comfortable and the new frets give it a reassuring feel.
The next question is, what more do you want? Grab it before it gets away.
