Introduced in 1958 following endless requests by Hank Marvin and the Shadows for more volume, the AC-30 would go on to be a touchstone of guitar tone, gracing stages all over the world. The AC30/4 was the first incarnation of this iconic amp, usurped by the AC30/6 in 1961.  

This amp came to us via its current owner who’d had the amp since the early 70’s. He bought it from Anderton’s in Guildford as a 15 year old and had used it ever since through various bands including a stint as guitarist for Mud in the 80’s. The amp had been rehoused prior to him purchasing it and aside from some repairs over the years, no other modifications have been carried out on the amp. The Tolex is in good condition as it spent much of its life in a flightcase. It's worn as you'd expect but not abused. The black, 4 input faceplate is from the original amp and is in good condition. 

Internally quite a few of the power capacitors and resistors have been upgraded or replaced and the amp has been thoroughly tested to make sure it's safe. As you’d imagine, for these amps to work as they should, some of the components need to be updated. Included with  the sale is a bag containing the original components that have been replaced. Speakers are mid-60s examples.

This is a great sounding amp with plenty of that classic VOX tone on tap. 

Anyone searching for that true JMI period tone need look no further. A great sounding amp in such fantastic condition, it would be madness to walk away.
