Gorgeous little Fender Champ 5D1 from 1956.

Introduced as an evolution of the Champion 800, these student amps formed the gateway to the Fender amp range and spawned a family of amps that are held in higher regard to this day. Covered in lovely 50's Tweed, the Champ featured a 6” speaker being driven by 4 watts of 6V6 power.

This is a well used example, that's been played and kept in working order. It has an extra step down transformer bolted into the cabinet, allowing for plug and play use in the UK. The tweed has also been re-lacquered, so its a little on the shiny side but still looks very cool. The control panel is in good condition showing only slight signs of bubbling with the silk screened text still clear.

The amp is still fitted with its correct speaker. Internally we believe it to be original, but the chassis didn't want to be removed without taking the tolex with it so we haven't been able to look inside. The correct output transformer is still present.

As you’d hope, this amp sounds fantastic. Very evocative, this amp is a must for anyone in search of a rootsy or vintage tone. There is no doubt why this is such a lauded amp.

These don’t come up for sale very often, so if you're after the perfect studio amp, let your search conclude here...
